

This is the procedure
(annexed by HOT DIPPED GALVANISING FACTORY) that shall be adopted in our
hot-dip galvanising process for zinc coating on iron cable ladders, trays,
ducts and steel products, steel structure, cable ladders, trays, ducts
steel pipes, gratings hardware, guardrails and etc. manufacture in Data
Engineering to comply to BS 729:1971 "Specification for Hot-Dip
Galvanised Coatings on Iron and Steel Articles" published by British
Standards Institution 1971 or ANSI/ASTM A 123-78 Standard Specification
for Zinc (Hot Galvanised) Coating on Product Fabricated From Rolled,
Pressed and Forged Steel Shapes, Plates, Bars and Strips.

Receiving articles and confirmation.
a) Articles received shall be checked and confirmed for :-
i) Name of Manufacturer
ii) Size and Capacity
iii) Defects of Articles
b) Upon confirmation, the inspector/client shall be informed of any
defects.

a) Handling of articles from the storage yard to the pre - treatment
process shall be by either 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 tons forklift.
b) The articles shall be sorted out into batches of nearly equal size and
shapes.
c) Batches of articles shall be wired at both ends and each batch shall
not exceed 2 tons (max).

Items/Articles shall be checked for :-
a) Length, width and height to determine the need for double dipping.
b) Paint or identification marking, lacquer, grease and heavy oil to
determine the need for abrasive sand blasting. The surface should be free
from contamination.
c) Rust/scars rolled in impurities, laps, seams and mill scales to
determine the need for abrasive sand blasting (for casting and other
steel).
d) Welded areas shall be checked for welding slags.
e) Articles shall be checked for suspension holes and fillings (for
articles not suitable for handling with chains, baskets hooks and jugs).
f) Vessels, hollow sections including small diameter tubular
fabrication shall be checked for venting to atmosphere (to prevent super heater
steam generation and prevent explosion).
g) Welded strengthening gussets and webs on columns and beams and
strengthening gussets in members fabricated from channels section shall be
checked for cropped corners and/or holes.
h) Drop handles, hinges, crackles, shafts and spindle shall be checked
for clearance.
